  • Cina Kraft, the longtime host of Heartwood Hotel on KLCC, died last week at age 81. Her music program brought chamber music and blues to Oregon listeners and she also taught music in local schools.  KLCC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fourth graders at Fairfield Elementary School learned power line safety basics today in a live 10,000-volt demonstration by EWEB; the interactive program (Power Town) taught proper responses to electrical hazards and is already reaching 16 classrooms across four school districts.  KEZI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A UO Safe Streets Campaign (a joint effort by student government, GTFF and LiveMove) unveiled a plan to install 20 traffic signs and a low-cost redesign of Patterson Street this summer after recent student fatalities, urging the City of Eugene to review the proposal before fall.  NBC 16

HEALTH NEWS

  • White Bird Clinic and Community Supported Shelters have launched a weekly mobile healthcare van that serves unhoused individuals on West 11th Avenue every Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. The service aims to reduce barriers to care and improve health outcomes.  KEZI
