- ➤ The Community Veterinary Center in Pleasant Hill will close on June 13 unless it secures $20,000 per month in new funding after losing major donors from its move from Eugene; board member Lynda Erickson said that nearly 200 clients depend on its sliding pay scale services. KLCC

- ➤ Michael Allen Groff, a 48-year-old Springfield man, was found guilty of second-degree assault, third-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon for firing at officers during an August 2023 standoff that injured one officer—he remains in custody and will be sentenced today. KEZI

- ➤ A GasBuddy survey found that average gasoline prices in Eugene fell by 8.2 cents in the past week to $3.81 per gallon, though today's rates remain 4.7 cents higher than last month and 9.5 cents lower than last year. The national average is also down 1.8 cents to $3.07 per gallon — a trend linked to increased refinery output. KVAL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Oregon DMV warned that scam texts and emails falsely claiming to be from the agency urged people to 'Pay Now' and click a link to provide personal information — officials stated that DMV transactions must only be completed online or in person. Residents are urged to ignore such messages and report any suspicious communications. KLCC
- ➤ City of Eugene is improving East Broadway for pedestrians by repaving the street, removing a busy third lane between Patterson and Alder, and widening sidewalks—steps meant to slow traffic and create a safer area. Work is mostly done at night so it does not disrupt daytime travel—phase one will be complete by summer and phase two by the end of 2025. KLCC
