GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Protesters gathered in downtown Eugene on Saturday at the Wayne Lyman Morse United States Courthouse to begin a No Kings rally that marched to City Hall—this demonstration aimed to show that the country is a democratic republic and to support local groups. KEZI
- ➤ Thousands of people gathered downtown Eugene Saturday morning for the No Kings protest, marching from the federal courthouse to City Hall to demand that leaders follow the law — demonstrators said the event showed strong community resolve. KEZI
- ➤ Springfield’s Island Park will not host the Fourth of July Light of Liberty celebration this summer because major construction on Mill Street makes the event impractical. Officials said discounted tickets are available for a July 3 baseball game and fireworks display near Hamlin Middle School — with the Drifters game priced at $5. KLCC
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Oregon track athletes performed strongly in the opening days of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field as Kobe Lawrence set a personal best in the shot put (66'8") and other athletes advanced to final rounds in key events.
