- ➤ Firefighters rescued Taquito — a dog from an early morning apartment fire — in South Eugene on Friday, and crews contained the blaze to one room with no other injuries reported. KVAL
- ➤ On July 25th, just before 11 a.m., Eugene firefighters responded to an apartment fire on West 29th Street in south Eugene—rescuing a dog named Taquito and prompting a temporary closure of Willamette Street. KEZI

- ➤ A Lane County grand jury indicted Ralph McSperitt on charges of second-degree assault, second-degree murder, and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with his wife’s shooting death on July 16 near Cottage Grove — he turned himself in to authorities six hours later. KEZI
- ➤ A lawsuit filed Tuesday, July 22, alleges that 20-year-old Kev Hill was racially profiled & assaulted by members of the Lane County Sheriff's Mounted Posse and private security during his visit to the Lane County Fair in Eugene after he was mistaken for a suspect in a recent shooting, with Hill fleeing the fair, collapsing from an asthma attack in a church parking lot, and now seeking financial harm repair while officials decline comment on pending litigation.
