- ➤ The City of Eugene Parks and Open Space Division announced the opening of Downtown Riverfront Park Plaza, a one-acre site with a tree grove, interactive art, a splash pad, and seating with panoramic river views. The $5.3 million plaza will host a grand opening celebration from September 12—14 and is part of a redevelopment that will eventually include housing and a restaurant—maintenance is funded by local support. - ➤ The second annual Back to School Giving Tree campaign is underway at Valley River Center in Eugene, where shoppers can choose an apple tag for essential clothing items for local youth. The initiative is a collaboration between A Family For Every Child and JCPenney — donors receive a discount on their JCPenney purchase and the drive runs through September 2. KEZI
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Oregon State Legislature granted Eugene $6 million for the Clear Lake Industrial Area along Clear Lake Road near the airport to upgrade critical infrastructure including a pump station, wastewater system, and transportation facilities that may support up to 6,000 new jobs. Construction will begin around summer 2027–and be completed by summer 2029. City of Eugene
