- ➤ The Western Oregon Exposition Heritage Fair in Cottage Grove starts today with three days of family-friendly shows, agricultural displays, and heritage exhibits. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Aug. 12, plainclothes and uniformed police officers in Eugene raided Washington Jefferson Park and nearby areas where they made 19 arrests or issued citations for drug-related offenses, including possession, delivery, and prostitution, and seized a firearm and brass knuckles — an effort to curb illegal activity in local parks. - ➤ The University of Oregon Hazard Lab uses 75 cameras to watch for wildfires in remote areas and sends alerts to first responders when smoke is detected—helping firefighters respond quickly.
