COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On October 25, 2025, the South Willamette Honor Flight program will host a Casino Night fundraiser at VFW Post 3965—344 Main Street in Springfield from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The event will raise funds for next April’s trip to Washington, D.C.—a vital effort after donations fell short despite 13 years of taking over 1,200 veterans to the capital.  KVAL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash has closed Highway 126 at milepost 9 in Springfield with detours for eastbound traffic via 42nd Street and westbound traffic via 126B Main Street—ODOT said motorists should seek alternate routes and drive carefully.  KEZI
  • A crash on I-105 at 52nd Street closed both directions and police advise drivers to seek alternate routes using detours through 42nd St (eastbound) and 126B Main (westbound).  KVAL

CRIME NEWS

  • The Asian American Council of Oregon will hold a public safety forum in Eugene on Oct. 23 (6:30 p.m.) at the Korean Presbyterian Church to address a recent rise in burglaries targeting Asian-owned businesses and homes while providing updates from law enforcement and elected officials from Eugene, Springfield, Lane County, and the state.  KLCC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • City of Eugene Wastewater Regulatory Services, BRING and Lane County Fleet Services are hosting a free Under the Hood: Oil Change & Spill Prevention Workshop on November 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for young adults ages 17 to 22 — the event offers hands-on training in safe oil changes and spill prevention with certificates, oil change kits and lunch giveaways provided — advance registration is required.  City of Eugene

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Lane County Deflection Program holds an open house at 680 Tyler St.—from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to mark its first full year by sharing milestones like 23 graduates and 71 active enrollees while featuring speeches from county officials.  KVAL
  • Oregon Health Authority said local Medicaid members in Lane County may soon transition from PacificSource to Trillium as discussions continue over a plan to extend PacificSource's coverage until Feb. 1—ensuring members have uninterrupted access to care during the change.  KVAL

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Oregon Health Authority and Trillium are discussing plans to have Trillium cover 92,000 Lane County Medicaid members from PacificSource in 2026. PacificSource will continue coverage until Feb. 1 — and OHA will help providers navigate the change — as some residents worry about losing long-term care.  KEZI

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Windshield and Wiper are a pair of bonded four-month-old kittens who need a calm, adults-only home, as Greenhill Humane Society said they are shy with fast movements and loud noises. Both kittens are spayed/neutered and may need extra time to adjust to new families (appointments are available at Greenhill Humane Society on Green Hill Road).  KEZI

  • University of Oregon officials are asking fans to dress in tie-dye for the Ducks’ inaugural ‘Tie-Dye Out’ on October 25th against the University of Wisconsin—fans can also vote in an online poll to see if they identify as Deadheads.  KVAL
