  • The Egan Warming Center in Lane County will have a new team this winter as it searches for a new location after leaving its former site at the Memorial Building in Springfield—volunteers are still needed to help keep people safe during freezing temperatures.  KEZI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Oregon gas prices dropped by 7.3 cents per gallon over the past week to average $3.89 — a figure based on a survey of 1,307 stations. Prices remain 31.1 cents higher than last year’s rate.  KVAL
  • Oregon gas prices dropped by 7.3-cent per gallon over the week, bringing the state average to $3.89 and marking a 28.4-cent decline from a month ago, according to GasBuddy's survey of 1,307 stations. The survey found prices ranged from $3.09 to $5.29 per gallon while national diesel prices rose by 4.7-cent to $3.638.  NBC 16

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Chintimini Wildlife Center, the only wildlife rehab between south of Portland and Eugene, has new interim leaders — Alyssa Nelson as executive director and Heather Gibons as deputy director — who are working to fix money problems and keep caring for local wildlife. They have raised about $100,000 toward a $150,000 goal to serve 2,200 patients and may cut some programs if funds remain low.  KEZI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Three weeks ago, the Hauser Fire Department lost its station to a fire and has been operating from a donated RV while continuing to respond to calls. The investigation ruled out arson and a portable office will be dropped off within the next week—helping the department ease its operational challenges.  KVAL
