ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A new 'Watch for Wildlife' license plate is now available to help fund projects that reduce road collisions with wildlife & make roads safer for people. Oregon drivers can order the plate through the DMV or the official website as seasonal migration peaks this fall.  KLCC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Lane Community College board voted 5-2 on Wednesday to delay the decision on a $16.5M budget cut until Jan. 7, giving staff more time to review a proposal presented only 48 hours before the meeting.  KVAL
  • Officials at Oregon Parks and Recreation Department are proposing rule changes aimed at closing an $8M shortfall — measures include raising fees, restricting same-day cancellation refunds, and limiting special passes — with public input accepted until Jan. 15.  KLCC

HEALTH NEWS

  • This week, McKenzie Willamette Medical Center in Springfield celebrated 70 years of care — it began in 1955 as a 35-bed hospital built by civic leaders and now employs over 900 people.  KVAL

SPORTS NEWS

  • The unbeaten Oregon Ducks (9-0) hosted the Oregon State Beavers (5-3) in a rivalry women’s basketball game on Wednesday at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, with tip off at 6:00 p.m. The teams resumed their matchup after a season-long pause.  KLCC
